My name is John Charles Ricker. I am an artist, writer, speaker, and thinker who lives in Minneapolis.
This blog will evolve as I explore this medium of expression, but I expect it will always contain my photography and art. Some of the art will be straightforward, but over half of it will play with one's perception.
Catching Elephant is a theme by Andy Taylor
Last night I let myself get a bit too hungry. When I got home I had a craving for peanut butter and the most handy source of meat was a breaded chicken fillet that was sitting in the fridge.
When I first thought of making a sandwich that put those two ingredients together, I hesitated, but then my curiosity asserted itself and I went about making the sandwich.
Chicken Peanut Butter Sandwich Phase 1:
One plain piece of toast, one slice of toast with peanut butter spread on it and a chicken fillet.
It tasted good, but bland in a way that I wasn’t expecting. The tastes of both items mixed well, but there was nothing that satisfying about the result.
Chicken Peanut Butter Sandwich Phase 2:
The previous incarnation with the addition of curry powder.
I realized that if I added curry to the peanut butter, it would taste a bit like satay sauce. The result was actually quite good and I think I might make this sandwich again.
It turns out it sounds much less appetizing than it actually is. Even with this experience behind me, it will still be a long time (possibly a non-polynomial amount) before I try my friend’s bologna, banana, and peanut butter sandwich. I loathe bologna.
